Description

On the right side of the picture for size comparison: Left 356 Winchester  vs left 307 Rimmed ( a version of .308 Winchester with a rim.)

One Cartridge, not a box: .356 Winchester, produced by Winchester / Olin ®, USA, using new Winchester brass cases with “ W-W 356 WIN” Head-Stamp and loaded with a 200 grain POWER-POINT or JSP (Jacketed Soft Point) projectile.

History of the .356 Winchester Cartridge:
The .356 Winchester was developed by Winchester for the Model 94 (XTR) angled ejection lever-action rifle in 1983.
It is basically a “rimmed” *307 Winchester necked out from 30 caliber to 35 caliber. * Note the 307 Winchester is a  rimmed version the .308 Winchester cartridge.
Although this is a good hunting cartridge for big North American game up to Elk, it was not popular and Winchester only make the cartridge in special run, once every few years, if at all.
