One Cartridge, Not a Box: .38-55 Winchester a.k.a. 38-55 WCF and 38-55 Ballard, by Winchester newer production using new Winchester brass cases with “W-W 38-55 WIN” Head-Stamp and loaded with a 245 grain Lead projectile. Please Note: Single cartridges of this item are available, see below in related items.History of .38-55 Winchester cartridge: The 38-55 Winchester or a.k.a. 38-55 WCF or 38-55 Ballard was introduced commercially in 1884 for the Ballard No 4 rifle. Later for the Winchester 1894 and Marlin 93 Lever Action Rifles, along with Colt and Savage rifles.Winchester dropped the cartridge in the 1940s but later reintroduced it in the Model 94 rifle.
