History of the .416 Barrett cartridge:

The Barrett .416 cartridge was designed in 2005 by Peter Foster and Christ Barrett and is basically a .50 B.M.G. shortened to 83mm and necked down to except .416 projectiles.

The .416 Barrett is said to be more accurate the .50 B.M.G. delivers 9517 foot pounds of energy per square inch at a velocity of 3,290 feet per second from a 395 grain projectile, which makes it one of the best long range sniper calibers available today.
