History of the 7.62x25mm Russian Tokarev Cartridge: The 7.62x25mm Russian Tokarev Cartridge is based 7.63x25mm Mauser cartruidge but with enhanced pressure and performance, the Tokarev should not be used in the older, weaker Mauser Broomstick pistols.This excellent cartridge was designed by Fjodor Tokarev and introduced in 1930 for the Soviet Army, and many other countries including China. There are many different loadings for this caliber from regular ball to Armor Piercing, and heavy pressure loads for use in machine guns only.
