Please note: This is the 8×57 JR (.318″ diameter projectiles) not the newer 8x57JRS (.323″ diameter projectiles) version, used in the  newer firarms. This cartridge 8x57JR (.318″) projectiles  is for older rifle firearms drillings.

            One Cartridge, not a box: 8x57JR Mauser, “RIMMED” (.318″ diameter projectiles) , new production by Sellier & Bellot or the Czech Republic, using new S&B brass cases with “S&B * 8×57 JR” Head-Stamp and loaded with a 196 grain (.318″ diameter) JSP (Jacketed Soft Point) projectile. * = Bomb symbol

History of the8x57JR (.318″ diameter projectile)  Cartridge:The 8mm German Mauser 8×57JS is one of the worlds best rimless case military cartridges and still used today.  It was used in both World War I and World War II by many major countries.The 8mm Mauser (8x57mmJ) with the rimless case and .318″ projectile  was introduced in 1888. Later the rimmed version was was introduced and called the 8x57mmJR for rimmed case, still with the .318″ projectile.However they were both changed to a .323″ diameter projectile called 8x57mmJS” for rimless case and 8x57mmJSR for rimmed  in 1905 The two rimmed versions were used in European Sporting  Cartridge for bolt actions, combination  and drilling rifles.
